Lion Is Unleashed

The unstoppable force that is Lion, the little blue penguin of hand-feeding fame, has been unleashed on the NEAQ penguin exhibit. He's named Lion after a little blue penguin breeding island. Last week he emerged to much fanfare from the proverbial cat carrier into his new home. Check out MSNBC's coverage of the release. (Note there is a brief commercial before the video begins.)

Caitlin Hume opens the door on a new world for Lion.

Caitlin goes on to suffer a grilling from reporters who demand to know if she still has the best job ever. The answer? Yes. Yes she does.

In addition to Lion's time in the spotlight, one of the aquarists who hand fed him, Caitlin Hume, continues her media exposure with this release. In addition to the current breeding workload, she is hoping to go on her first research expedition to rockhopper penguin breeding islands off the coast of Chile this November.
